Public Lottery applications were accepted online and over the phone between October 11 – October 29, 2021.
All eligible, unduplicated applications received within the Public Lottery application period will be entered into a public lottery. Your chances of being selected in the lottery are the same whether you apply online or over the phone.
Everyone Must Apply
Even if you are already a Fresh Bucks customer, you still need to apply for the 2022 benefits year. If you are contacted by a partner organization, you may be enrolled into the program without submitting a Public Lottery application. Otherwise, we invite you to apply starting on October 11.

To Submit an Application, You Need the Following Information:
Number of people in your household
Total household income
Current home address
Your Fresh Bucks Card number (for current Fresh Bucks customers only)

Anyone can apply to receive Fresh Bucks benefits. When you submit an application, you will receive an instant response letting you know if you are eligible.
You are Eligible for Fresh Bucks Benefits if:
- You live within the Seattle city limits (check here) and
- Your household income is at or below 80% Area Median Income (AMI).

Our Approach to Program Enrollment
Fresh Bucks aims to eliminate racial disparities in access to healthy foods. We do this by partnering with local community-based organizations and health clinics who work with historically underserved communities most impacted by food insecurity and diet-related chronic disease to enroll eligible people to receive Fresh Bucks benefits.
Public Lottery Application
Recognizing that not all eligible households are served through our network of community-based enrollment partners, we also offer a public lottery application. All eligible, unduplicated applications received within the public lottery application period are entered into a computer-generated randomized selection process led by a third party. Each applicant is assigned an “unfiltered” randomized ranking between 1 and the total number of applicants. (For example, in a lottery with 10,000 applicants, each applicant is randomly assigned a number between 1 and 10,000.) We enroll Public Lottery applicants in order of randomized ranking as available budget allows.

How do I know if you have received my application?
As soon as you submit your online application, a confirmation page and reference number will appear on the screen. The reference number serves as your confirmation that Fresh Bucks received your application. You will also receive a confirmation email including your reference number at the email address submitted in your application.
How will I know if my application has been selected from the public lottery?
All applicants will be notified of their application status by mail. Application status letters will be mailed by December 31, 2021.
